Remember

Here's a poem that I wrote the other day.  It really needs reworking.  But I want to put it here - my blog is my place to think and the ground rules have always been that if you don't like it you don't have to read it.



Remember


Remember being
alone in the house

remember
the iron
and the marbles
and the fire
and the sky

remember that it hurt and that I couldn't breathe

remember I made myself a respirator.


Remember

the solvents
and the periodic table

remember puzzles and logic
lessons for today

in science we made thermometers

warmed the house with convection currents

Cold

and a blue yellow checked coat

a grasshopper.

Schizophrenic asthma

Black autism nextdoor

and a waking nightmare that I'd nearly forgotten.
