Politics of heritage

I went to a very interesting talk about the above this evening by the director of English Heritage. It was unexpectedly good, lots of food for thought. It got me thinking about old psychiatric hospitals and how they get knocked down and how beautiful they very often are, and important in the story of mental illness and health in this country. The winners write history, if you like. Below are some beautiful pictures of an old hospital in London, which I'm not sure if I have linked to before. Interestingly wiki says that it was considered for listing, but has not been.
